Apple’s Propensity of Surprising Us

Apple has never run out of its surprises. They have come a long way of surprising Apple device owners. And this year is not an exception. Just last month Apple held a town hall for the launch of not only one but two iPhones, the iPhone 5S which was intended to become the successor of iPhone 5 and the unprecedented replacement of the latter, the iPhone 5C. Yes, iPhone 5C was viewed by many experts, reviewers and Apple insiders as Apple’s way of eliminating its mistake. And in the same event they retired iPhone 5, which is two days away for its only first anniversary in the market.

No doubt iPhone 5 has given other phone manufacturers a run of their money. Not only it has been extravagant on its own way, it has been integrated with the latest hardware innovations during its time. But the phone did not on hardware alone. Connected to it is the necessary software that will implement its purpose. The latest hardware innovation has come up to its expectation, but not with its software, leading to many iPhone 5 owners believing that Apple is withholding the phone’s real capability.

There have been not only once, or twice, but four times iOS 8.4 modifications. Despite the multiple versions, it still doesn’t seem to carry what people it looking for. That is why many iPhone 5 owners decided to have their own way, the people’s way, which is to jailbreak the phone and know its capabilities and the horizons that Apple programmers cannot do, lest held to do. Perhaps its Apple’s way of saying they are trying to build a better phone than that of iPhone 5. True enough, there was iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C.

But guess what? The iPhone 5C is totally the same as that of iPhone 5 – the only difference perhaps are its vibrant colors. Basically, it’s an iPhone 5 that has come pre-installed with iOS 7, which the latter can also have because it is also supported. So again the question is – what is the difference between iPhone 5 and iPhone 5C? Except for minor hardware enhancements – there’s not much of a difference. But since iPhone 5 can be jailbroken, of course if the owner hasn’t upgraded to the latest iOS 7 yet, then there’s a big difference, software-wise.

Having the latest device with latest technology is one thing, having it installed with even better software that is capable of is another thing. Nobody wants to be held for the things they can do. Same with iPhone 5, Apple should just let their programmers do what they think the phone can do, and leave at it. If they happen to do just like that, they should have not developed the same fancy, plastic-covered iPhone 5C.

Or perhaps there’s another story behind Apple pulling out the iPhone 5 this early. Well, one thing’s for sure – Apple made a daring decision to remove its once regarded as ‘the best phone they have created’ just after a year. They might still come up with another surprise; the year is not yet over.
